All Aboard the birthday train!

Wow, I can’t believe my baby is THREE.  Where has the time gone?  You have grown up so much during these past few months, you are becoming so independent, doing things for yourself, using the big boy potty, sleeping in a big boy bed, carrying on conversations like a little young man just to name a few.   Your stubborn personality and need for instant gratification, which you get from me, is strong and often lands you in time out.  I watch you in awe as you ride your red trike through the house often singing a song or talking to your “babies” as you give them a ride.  Your imagination is both wild and amazing and one of the many things I love about you.  I hope it grows with you.

You love trains, mater, Olivia, animals, music and anything pretend. I am so excited to see what this next year will bring for you. I only ask that I remain the “one” you run to and call for, for at least a while longer.

I guess the best part about having your birthday party a week after your actual birthday is two cakes, two days of presents and being spoiled twice as long. I stepped a little outside my comfort zone in the kitchen and made a train cake, complete with candy wheels, chocolate cargo and a peanut butter cup smoke stack, choo choo. Move over Betty Crocker, I even made the cake from scratch.

 Counting to THREE

For the big party I made homemade cupcakes and frosting embellished with train whistles.  Okay, so the whistles were not a well thought out idea, but the kids loved them.  The most important thing was that Chase had a wonderful day (or two).

Waiting patiently for the party to get started

Make a wish

Yummy!  I only eat the frosting
