What do six year old boys love? Laser tag. So what do you get when you throw in 9 little boys, sugar and laser guns? A heck of good time (and one tired mommie). We let Carter choose what he wanted to do for his party this year and while it was a tough decision it was laser tag and putt putt for the win. We decided that we would only invite the boys this year (don’t you know girls are gross anyway), which I think considering the activity was a good decision. Although I know a few little girls out there that could definitely hold their own (no stereotyping here).

It is hard to believe he is six, I know I say it every year as each year seems to go by faster than the last. My now 4 foot tall, near toothless little boy is growing up so fast, too fast. Each stage has its own challenges and rewards. Sometimes I sense he is caught between his desire for independence and his want to stay little and needy for a while longer. I get frustrated that he asks me to do things that we both know he is fully capable of. But I too struggle with the desire to let him figure it out and the want to do things for him hoping it will keep him from growing up too fast. I remember when he was a baby how I couldn’t wait for him to laugh, crawl, walk and so on but now I wish I could just slow everything down, I can wait, I really can, I am in no hurry for him to grow up. I hope he feels the same!
